2025: Q2

Quarter 2 was busy! New drops, smoother flows, and a look ahead at what we’re brewing next.

Launched: Design System v2 (Beta)

We rolled out the beta of Design System v2, including updated Figma libraries, component code, and documentation. All in preparation for the full release. V1 assets will remain available to support teams during the transition.

  • Dot-design got a few enhancements to help clarify how to migrate from v1 to v2.
  • V1 Figma libraries are now publicly available on our community page.

Implementation updates

Platform web

  • Page templates are in development to speed up layout creation and promote consistency across products.
  • Bug fixes & QoL improvements
  • Color system overhaul
    • Aligned more closely with the base system.
    • Fixed several dark mode issues.
    • Added text color support for all 18 chart color sets. Each set now includes background, graphic, and text colors. (Big thanks to Nathan B!)
    • Currently partnering with Engineering to roll out chart color updates across code.
  • Component updates
    • Summary, Widget, and Tag components have officially moved to the finished section.
    • Both Navigation components received updates to improve usability and consistency.
  • Tackling larger, cross-product efforts to streamline how we work; beyond just Platform web.

Consumer web

iOS 26 Collection & Library Planning

We’ve been working closely with Dan from the iOS team to implement UI/UX updates aligned with iOS 26 guidelines in our app.

Looking ahead, we’re planning a refreshed iOS component library for the Consumer team. This will be designed to support SwiftUI and iOS 26 patterns.

What’s next

We’re shifting focus to the foundation of our system. Taking time to revisit and refine out library architecture and system layouts. Part of this work includes a detailed comparison of component sets across libraries to identify alignment opportunities with our base system, helping streamline migration and improve adoption.

We’re also actively mapping components for code updates, setting the stage for more consistency and scalability across platforms.

Cool picks from the team

Stuff that’s inspired us, helped us, or just made us say “whoa.”

  • Avocado Feta Crack Dip

Crack is in the name, and for good reason. We recently hosted a cookout and one of my dear friends brought this dish. We’ve made it a few times since then and I can’t stop eating it or thinking about it.

  • Garden Walk

Buffalo has the largest garden walk in the country, and this year it’s on July 26—27. We always participate. My street is small but has a ton of gardens, so we get a lot of foot traffic and we love talking to other gardeners and everybody else who stops by. Here are some garden photos and a fairy garden tour!

  • Metalworking

I took a one-day beginner metalsmithing class in May. Each participant was given two sheets of copper and an assignment to design and create our own kinetic sculpture. We learned how to saw, file, cold connect (using rivets and screws), and solder along the way. This is what I ended up with. Other students’ pieces included dogs walking, a lot of birds, people doing jumping jacks, and other fun and creative things.
